True to our methodical and efficient way of functioning and organizing, the 17th Indian Orthodontic Society Post Graduate Convention ‘RETURN OF THE SUMMIT’ is growing contours worthy of appreciation. The flow of events leading to the ‘Big One’ is fast gaining momentum and we can proudly and confidently say that this ‘Convention’ being organized by the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, A.B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences to mark the SILVER JUBILEE OF POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN THE DEPARTMENT is turning out to be far bigger and better in terms of Participation, Grandeur and Splendor than what we visualized it to be.
‘Mangalore’, the sanctified adobe of Godess Mangaladevi is a very typical example of ‘Unity in Diversity’. Steeped in culture and tradition, yet pliable to accommodate modernity, the legendary hospitality and generosity of Mangaloreans leaves one craving for more. The picturesque beauty of the spectacular beaches and the lush greenery of the scenic country side have inspired many ballads and folklores. Very aptly termed as ‘The Temple of Learning’, our Mecca of Education’ has earned a very prominent place for itself on the World Map. The perfect amalgam of the Old and the New makes this beautiful city of ours a very appropriate get away from the daily grind.
Orthodontics today has entered a New Era — a time of meaning and maturity in its approach to Education and Practice. With this ‘Convention’, we seek to embark on a Scholastic adventure to reach ‘THE SUMMIT of Orthodontics. As the barriers to our scope of Research continue to rumble and our horizons broaden into newer fields, it is imperative for us to inculcate a mixture of these magic ingredients, imagination, a spirit of enquiry and a sense of skepticism. The ‘Scientific Programme’ has been very ingeniously &. meticulously chalked out & we have a few highly placed & well versed International Speakers & also an impressive lineup of our own ‘Guest Speakers’, sharing their know-how on their respective Force apart from the ‘Scientific Papers’ & ‘Scientific Posters’ to be presented by our Student Members where increased opportunities have been created by ear-marking an additional day for extra Papers’ and ‘Posters, Keeping our Conference theme in mind, we have finalized a plethora of experts to Conduct Pre- Conference Courses which will help you explore ‘Newer Horizons’ in your quest to reach THE SUMMIT ‘of Orthodontics.
The details of the ‘Trade Fair' have been finalized and Two Spacious Fully Air Conditioned and Strategically placed Halls at our centrally located Venue, the Dr. TMA Pai International Convention Centre, Mangalore have been specially earmarked for this purpose. Provision for 125 Well Furnished Stalls fabricated with State-of the Art technology has been made and response from ‘Traders’ has been tremendous. The show promises to be of truly International Caliber with Equipments, Instruments & Materials of World Renowned brands on Display.
